This policy explains how The Couch Insider researches, writes, updates and corrects the articles we publish. It applies to everything on couchinsider.com.
Our standards
- Accuracy first: we would rather publish later than publish something wrong.
- Useful to readers: every article should answer a real question for the person reading it, not just repeat what other sites have said.
- Clear about what we know: we separate confirmed facts from rumors, leaks and our own opinions, and we say which is which.
Sources and fact-checking
We base our reporting on primary sources wherever possible: manufacturer announcements, official documentation, regulatory filings, security advisories and statements from the companies involved. When we rely on other publications or community discussions, we name and link to them. Prices, specifications and release dates are checked against official sources before publishing.
Use of AI
We may use AI tools to help with research, outlines and first drafts. AI output is never published without human review. A human editor is responsible for the accuracy, sourcing and final wording of every article, and we do not use AI to invent quotes, test results or personal experiences.
Headlines and images
Headlines and featured images must reflect what the article actually contains. We avoid exaggerated or misleading headlines, and we do not hold back key information just to get a click. When we use an illustrative or AI-generated image instead of a real photo of a product or event, we say so.
Bylines, dates and updates
Every article shows its author, its publication date and, when relevant, the date it was last updated. We change the “last updated” date only when we make a meaningful change to the content, such as new information, corrected facts or updated prices. We do not change dates to make old articles look new.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it. To report an error, email [email protected] with the article link and what needs correcting. We review every report. When a correction changes the meaning of an article, we add a short note explaining what was changed.
Independence, advertising and sponsored content
The Couch Insider is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or what we write. We do not accept payment for positive coverage. If we publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, we label them clearly, and paid links carry the appropriate rel="sponsored" attribute.
