Have the Brewers ever won a World Series?
No, not yet. The Milwaukee Brewers are one of only five MLB teams that have never won a World Series, along with the Mariners, Padres, Rockies and, fittingly, their 2026 opponent, the Tampa Bay Rays. That means this yearโs series is guaranteed to crown a first-time champion either way.
The Brewers have made the postseason 12 times and reached the World Series only twice. Hereโs every trip:
| Year | How far they went | How it ended |
|---|---|---|
| 1981 | AL Division Series | Lost to the New York Yankees, 3-2 |
| 1982 | World Series | Beat the California Angels in the ALCS, then lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3 |
| 2008 | NL Division Series | Lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-1 |
| 2011 | NL Championship Series | Beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-2, then lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2 |
| 2018 | NL Championship Series | Swept the Colorado Rockies, 3-0, then lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3 |
| 2019 | NL Wild Card Game | Lost to the Washington Nationals, 4-3 |
| 2020 | NL Wild Card Series | Lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-0 |
| 2021 | NL Division Series | Lost to the Atlanta Braves, 3-1 |
| 2023 | NL Wild Card Series | Lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 2-0 |
| 2024 | NL Wild Card Series | Lost to the New York Mets, 2-1 |
| 2025 | NL Championship Series | Beat the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, then swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-0 |
| 2026 | World Series | Beat the San Diego Padres, 3-1, swept the Dodgers, 4-0; World Series vs. the Tampa Bay Rays in progress, Brewers lead 3-1 (as of Oct. 28) |
From the Seattle Pilots to 1982: the Brewers World Series history
To understand why Milwaukee is losing its mind right now, you have to go back to the very beginning.
The Brewers didnโt even start out as the Brewers. The franchise was born in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots, an expansion team that lasted exactly one season before going bankrupt. In 1970, the team was moved to Milwaukee and renamed the Brewers. For the next five decades, this was a franchise that knew a lot more about heartbreak than parades.
The closest they ever came was 1982. That team had a nickname you still hear around Milwaukee bars: โHarveyโs Wallbangers,โ named after manager Harvey Kuenn, because they hit home runs like nobody else. They had future Hall of Famers Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. Molitor set a World Series record with five hits in Game 1. Yount had two four-hit games in the same Series, something nobody had ever done.
And they still lost. The St. Louis Cardinals beat them in seven games, and Milwaukee didnโt get back to the World Series for 44 years.
So when this Brewers team swept the defending champion Dodgers in the NLCS and then grabbed a 3-0 lead over the Rays, it wasnโt just about baseball. It was about every fan who grew up hearing stories about 1982, every season that ended early, and a city that never stopped showing up.
The Brewers are one of the few MLB teams that have never won a World Series. Thatโs what is on the line.
The 2026 Brewers World Series, game by game
Forty-four years later, Milwaukee finally got back. The Brewers swept the two-time defending champion Dodgers in the NLCS, then opened the World Series against the Rays with three straight wins.

| Game 1 | Fri., Oct. 23 | Brewers 3, Rays 2 |

| Game 5 | Wed., Oct. 28 | 8 p.m. ET, at Tampa Bay |
| Game 6* | Fri., Oct. 30 | 8 p.m. ET, at Milwaukee |
| Game 7* | Sat., Oct. 31 | 8 p.m. ET, at Milwaukee |
Game 4: three outs from a title, then a walk-off

Game 4 was one of the wildest World Series games in years.
Tampa Bay struck first in the 2nd inning, when Chandler Simpson lined a single into the right-field corner to score Jonny DeLuca. Milwaukee answered in the 4th: rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt hit a ball to left, and Sal Frelick raced all the way home from first to tie it 1-1. The Rays went back ahead in the bottom of the inning after an error by third baseman David Hamilton, whose throw to first on a DeLuca grounder sailed off target.

Hamilton made up for it right away. In the 5th, he launched his second home run of the postseason to tie the game at 2-2. Then both bullpens took over, and nobody scored for six straight innings. The game went to extra innings, then to the 11th, then to the 12th.
Thatโs when Pratt did it again. In the top of the 12th, the rookie hit a towering home run to left field to put Milwaukee up 3-2, leaving the Brewers three outs from a title. He finished the night with four hits. In Milwaukee, watch parties exploded. For a few minutes, it felt over.
It wasnโt. In the bottom of the 12th, the Rays strung together hits against the Brewersโ bullpen. DeLuca singled up the middle to tie it 3-3, and then Ben Williamson came through with a walk-off hit to win it 4-3 and keep Tampa Bayโs season alive.
It was the kind of loss that stings. But it didnโt change the math: the Brewers still led the series 3-1, needing just one more win.

Whatโs at stake: If the Brewers win tonight, they are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history. If the Rays win, the series heads back to Milwaukee for Game 6 on Friday, Oct. 30, with a possible Game 7 on Saturday, Oct. 31, Halloween night, both at 8 p.m. ET at American Family Field.
History is still very much on Milwaukeeโs side. Teams that take a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven almost always finish the job, and only one team in MLB history, the 2004 Red Sox, has ever come back from 0-3 to win a series. But Tuesday night proved this Rays team isnโt going quietly.
What happens if the Brewers win the World Series?

If Milwaukee gets that last win, hereโs what comes next:
They become first-time champions. The Brewers would win their first World Series in franchise history and leave the short list of teams that have never won one. Theyโd also lift the Commissionerโs Trophy, the big gold trophy with flags for every MLB team, for the first time.
A World Series MVP is named. The award is handed out on the field right after the final out. Cooper Pratt, the rookie with the go-ahead hit in Game 2 and a 12th-inning homer in Game 4, would have a strong case.
Milwaukee throws a parade. Championship parades usually happen within a few days of the clinching game, in the teamโs home city. The Brewers havenโt announced anything yet, since teams donโt plan publicly until the title is won. Expect details on the date, the route and how to watch within a day of a clinch.
The gear drops instantly. Official champions shirts and hats go on sale the same night (more on that below).
Rings and a banner come next season. Teams traditionally hand out championship rings and raise a banner early the following season, often around the home opener at their ballpark.
And the Uecker story comes full circle. Bob Uecker called Brewers games for 54 seasons and never got to call a championship. A title in the first season after his death would mean more to Milwaukee than almost anything else. (More on him below.)
What if the Rays come back? Then Tampa Bay wins its own first title, the Brewers become the first team ever to lose a World Series after leading 3-0, and Milwaukeeโs wait goes on. Either way, one long drought ends this year.
Where to buy official Brewers World Series champions gear

If the Brewers finish the job, the second the final out is made, the players will pull on โlocker roomโ championship shirts and hats, and those are the exact pieces fans rush to buy. They go fast, so hereโs where to look for the real thing:
- MLB Shop and Fanatics (online): the official league stores, usually the first to list locker room tees, hats and commemorative gear the same night.
- The Brewers Team Store at American Family Field: expect long lines the day after a title, but itโs the most fun place to buy.
- Big sports retailers such as Lids, Dickโs Sporting Goods and Academy: check their apps, because stores often get championship gear within a day or two.
One warning: knock-off โchampionsโ shirts flood social media ads within hours. Real gear carries the official MLB licensed tag or hologram. If the price looks too good and the site looks brand new, skip it.
Why everyone is searching โUeckerโ during the Brewers World Series

If youโre not a Brewers fan, you might be wondering why โUeckerโ is suddenly all over your feed. Hereโs the short version: you canโt tell the story of this team without him.
Bob Uecker was born and raised in Milwaukee. He played six seasons in the majors as a backup catcher, starting in 1962, and he was the first to joke that he wasnโt very good at it. Then, in 1971, he got behind the microphone for the Brewers, and he never left. He called Brewers games on the radio for 54 seasons.
To the rest of America, he was โMr. Baseball.โ He played the hilariously drunk announcer Harry Doyle in the movie Major League (โJuuust a bit outsideโ), starred in the sitcom Mr. Belvedere, and became famous for his Miller Lite commercials. The Baseball Hall of Fame gave him its top broadcasting honor, the Ford C. Frick Award, in 2003. But to Milwaukee, he was just Ueck, the voice on the radio every summer night.
Uecker died on January 16, 2025, at age 90. He never got to call a Brewers championship.
Thatโs why this World Series feels so personal. The Brewers have been wearing a patch on their uniforms all season to honor him: navy-and-gold plaid, like the loud sport coats he loved, with his signature across it. Before Game 1 in Milwaukee, Hall of Famer Robin Yount walked to the mound wearing one of Ueckerโs actual plaid jackets, with a โUeckโ jersey underneath, to throw the ceremonial first pitch. Up in the radio booth that carries Ueckerโs name, the broadcast crew wore his blazers too. Former Brewers star Ryan Braun led the crowd in a chant: โLetโs do it for Ueck!โ
And before Game 4, fans gathered at his statue outside American Family Field, leaving flowers and cans of beer at his feet. (Thereโs a second Uecker statue inside the ballpark, alone in the very last row of the upper deck, a nod to his famous Miller Lite line: โI must be in the front row!โ)
So when you see โUeckerโ trending tonight, thatโs what it is. A whole city doing it for Ueck.
The players behind the 2026 Brewers World Series run
Cooper Pratt, Brewers shortstop. The rookie has become the story of this World Series. He had the go-ahead hit in Game 2, and in Game 4 he went 4-for-5 with a double and that 12th-inning home run. Whatever heโs doing, itโs working.
David Hamilton, Brewers third baseman. His home run tied Game 4, and heโll want a cleaner night in the field after the error that gave Tampa Bay a run.
Aaron Ashby, Brewers reliever. The lefty got five big outs in Game 1, closed out Game 2, and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts in Game 4. Heโs been the bullpenโs go-to arm all October.
Chandler Simpson and Jonny DeLuca, Rays. Simpson had three hits in Game 4, and DeLuca scored twice and drove in the tying run in the 12th. They are the reason the Rays are still alive.
The World Series MVP race. MVP is announced right after the final game. If the Brewers clinch tonight, Pratt has a strong case after his two clutch hits in the series.
